Good pizza and large tables for a small party or venue. The staff is friendly and are quick to bring your order out. The pizza is quality and they offer daily specials that are kind to your pockets. They also have a small variety of other Italian foods. Water is available by the pitcher and there are a few games for kids to play. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a good pizza by the slice/combo.

So, here's the synopsis: After 4 phone calls: 1. They were 40min late 2. They got the order wrong (both pizza and garlic knots - really just breadsticks) 3. It was cold. 4. I live LESS THAT A MILE AWAY They did refund my order (let's see how long that takes), so that's a plus. I ended up ordering from another place that has ALWAYS been reliable. Maybe they had an off night, but this was my first experience using Eat24 with them .. I will NEVER go back.

MUCH better after new management. Some unique options and improvements all around, but some of the better menu items are gone to replace other ones. I never hung around inside before, but I'd be more likely to now. Better TV's and better beer on tap, for sure. I also like the slice options much better now.

Craving pizza? Call here. So delicious and reasonably priced. And did I say delicious?! A large pineapple, jalapeño, with chicken is the go to favorite but you can't go wrong with any of their creations.

Best hand made pizza around. Prices are great, staff is friendly, talented and efficient! The Greek chicken pizza is AH-MAZING!

Came in around 6 pm for a slice of pizza. Great variety of specialty and basic slices. Tried the lighting bear pizza and it was great. Crunchy crust & big slice for around $4. Friendly service, clean and welcoming. Glad it's close by to bring family and friends.

Best pizza, chicken tenders and onion rings. Prices are unbeatable. Nice chill spot to just hang out with friends.

I was disappointed this time. I had the special and the pizza was cold and a bit stale.

  • Corinne W.

Let me be reeeeeally honest... I love this place. The crust isn't too thick it's not too thin. Not to mention they (surprisingly) have an amazing selection of good craft beer on tap (including my favorite Ninkasi). I live around the corner and happened upon this spot quite unexpectedly. I can't wait to come back :) $4 slice & cola. You really can't beat the prices or taste for that matter...

    (5)
  • Harvey Y.

I tried the $4.00 slice and soda. It's okay... nothing special about the pizza. They put a ton of ice in the soda cup and not enough soda. I like Armadillo Pizza down the street a lot better. They make a better slice.

Docking these guys 2 stars. Sadly.....the high standards of the new regime didn't last long. The hand made sausage is gone and the quality of the other toppings and the crust has gone downhill as well. The chicken wings are still pretty good but this place is off my "short list" of places to go. Also, they aren't open very often anymore. Good luck trying to go in for lunch on Sundays and watch a football game - these guys will most likely be closed. Such a shame because there are so few good places to go out to eat nowadays and I had high hopes for this joint.

  • Lisa T.

I hear this place is soon closing down. Now I can figure out why. It was so sad and depressing. But not cheap! I paid like $22 for a pizza and a small soda. Took my kid here to watch a Giants game. The TV is old and dim. You literally can't see what's on the TV. The staff doesn't have anything to do. Literally standing around staring sadly out the window. But when it's time for your food to come out, the guy made me get up and fetch the food myself. I am literally out of here.

Best pizza in El Cerrito,Richmond, or Albany. For the old school the Republic combo taste very similar to the Roma special. The wings are legit, all flavors are good. The pick up special makes it the perfect price. The quality of ingredients has gone up and so has the service. Going to have to try their sandwiches and fried ravioli soon!

We had a Groupon to try this pizza place. We order a Large Sausage and Pepperoni pizza with 20 Ginger and Teriyaki wings. The wings were my favorite. They were crispy with the right amount of sauce. The pizza was good. I love the sausage on the pizza. I will be back to try the other pizzas.

Ordered a medium, it was the largest medium pizza I ever saw! Sometimes when you get a pizza that is larger than what you expected (which does not happen too often), they are stingy with the toppings. Not so at this place. We ordered the House special. it was loaded with meat. I am not a big meat eater, so that was not a plus to me, but it was my bad for not paying attention to what the House special was composed of. One other plus was that I did not get a headache after I ate it. Usually when on the rare occasion that I indulge in a meat fest, ( pepperoni, sausage and salami), I suffer from the after effects, that being the nitrites, preservatives, or whatever else they ingest it with. A headache is my dessert. Knock on wood, but it has been an hour now, and I am Ok. Maybe that speaks of a higher quality of meat they use, not sure. I like my crust on the thin side, and NOT a dough ball. Without even requesting they cooked it the way I like it, on the thin side, and almost crispy, but not, just perfect for me. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was that I was looking for a few more pizza combinations to pick from.. I usually do a vegetarian, but there was only one on the chalkboard, and it had some things I do not care for. Of course I could have picked my own toppings for a custom pizza. Too lazy though.

Pretty good pizza's especially for the price versus the competition. The staff is very friendly, I think they're all family. Definitely want the customer to be totally satisfied, nice to see with all the "take it or leave it" mentality.

Wrote a positive previous review, but did not see it, so here goes again. I absolutely love that this pizza joint can provide a pizza with the bottom crust CRISPY. So many other joints have soggy bottoms, but not this one. Also try their oversized polish dogs that's in a wrap a round pizza crust. Yummy! Unfortunately, I've been coming once a week and my weight scales are showing it. I've gained 5 lbs. Yikes!

  • Max L.

Papi's Pizza Roma... Please Bring back that pool table... and I'll bring you some business... and update this review to a few more Stars! "Under new management"... They had a POOL TABLE... But They got rid of it to make space for more empty CHAIRS instead!!! The food here is gppd, a bit overpriced, but most pizza is a bit overpriced so that's not a deal-breaker. they get 4 out of 5 for their pizza alone. The place is big... and empty... almost big enough for their empty dining area, and that freaking pool table they got rid of!!! That being said... I love pizza, not only because its Amazing when done right... but also the proverbial "Pizza Joint" is a multi-attraction place... a place to chill with your friends. They took away the pool table?... Jesus Christ... they should have added a Second one!!!

We are new owners please give us a try. We also did some remodeling, new TV and more beers on daft.. And the pizza is delicious!!!!!!!

  • ALEX S.

New owners and its better than ever. Gone are the funky booths and old pool table (which I kind of liked) but the pizza is really good and hopefully El Cerrito youth baseball will continue to have all their pizza parties there.

For more than a decade I've wondered about this place, and today was finally my lucky day. I mean, who wouldn't want to try out a tired old pizza place with a view of a parking lot and a long-abandoned Safeway? Does life in El Cerrito get any better any this? (Actually, it doesn't. But that's another story.) We entered a dim restaurant with faux wood paneling. Decorations consist of some beer signs, an old tv, and a few little league trophies. There is also a claw machine by the door with a few dusty toys inside. Even money that no one has put a quarter in so far this decade. There is also a pool table. We were the only patrons a little past noon on a December Wednesday - except for a couple of dudes nursing beers at the tiny bar, one of whom brought his six-year-old daughter. We were greeted by a friendly older guy who took our order from behind the counter. After a bit of banter he put together what turned out to be a pretty decent pizza - thin crust, crisp and not too chewy with an appropriate amount of toppings. We got our kids a couple of small bottles of Martinelli's apple juice ($1.50 each) and got ourselves a pint of Modelo served in a chilled glass. Sierra Nevada was the other option on tap today, and a whole friggin' pitcher of either costs only seven bucks or so. That's good news, but also kind of nice is the cost of a large cheese pizza - $14.95. The pizza was cooked just so. I got the sense that the friendly older guy is the owner, and that he is going to make sure that the food comes out just as he intends it to come out. If you don't like what he serves you, it won't be because he is lazy or inattentive or made a mistake. This guy takes his work seriously and seems to execute flawlessly on his 1970's vision of what a family pizzeria should be. This makes me more than a little interested in his baked submarine sandwiches - I do, after all, have a weakness for the classics. All of this is good enough for me so many thanks to you, good sir. Sorry it took me so long to walk through your door. I won't make that mistake again.

Great pizza and great people! Wholesome ingredients, including a crispy crust with real taste, quality cheese, and a generous quantity of all toppings. Never saw so much pepperoni on one slice of pizza, but at the same time it is not overwhelming the pizza base - a nice balance. Nice open, clean seating area. Friendly, quick service and the prices are good! Will I return - yeah - I went back for seconds 10 minutes after the first slices were gone! One of the better pizza restaurants in the whole East Bay and they now have a delivery service!

I am a pizza fanatic and love to try new pizza places. My husband and I decided to go out for pizza and beer on St Patrick's day and came here. The moment we walked in we were happily greeted. We had trouble deciding what to order since their pizza selections all sounded so good. We went with 1/2 sausage pepperoni and mushroom and the other half was the Espicy- red sauce, onion, jalapeños and chorizo. I got my favorite Orange Fanta from their fridge that is stocked up with Mexican bottled soda. My husband had a beer from their huge selection of draft and bottled beer. We had the onion rings and wings while we waited for our pizza. Both very good. They have a table with different hot sauces and condiments to choose from before getting seated. Also complementary distilled water is provided. The pizza was delicious. The sausage and chorizo is home made. Both amazing. The restaurant is very clean and sterile. It is a family owned business. Father and son are the cooks while the mother and younger son attend customers and keep up with the cleanness of the restaurant. As new owners and starting a new business I wish them the best of luck. We will definitely be back.

Nice pizza with a good cust, tons of sausage on the House Special. A really competant, standard pizza. Will go back.

Been ordering pizza from this spot right down the hill. Always loved their pizza! I don't know what about it is so good, it just is. It's located inside this weird abandoned shopping center, with a half-empty CVS and an H&R Block (which I think is abandoned as well. The pizza isn't like the regular American version of pizza, with a thin crust and a ton of grease. It's thicker and the toppings are delicious.

I'd never been to Papi's before, so can't compare the new owner's establishment vs. the prior one. All I know is the pizza was tasty and Papi's is the only place in the area that has Firestone 805 on tap. This is the best draft beer I've ever tasted, and it's very rare to find in the East Bay. So good job Papi's - you serve up quality food and beer!

New owners, new interior, NEW PIZZA. The crust is a satisfying mix of crispy and chewy. Sausage is made in-house.

  • Aaron E.

Very nice upgrade to their pizza. New owners seem committed to making quality pies. Crust is crispy and sauce is tangy, ingredients fresh. Ate a slice, onion rings and a soda for $8! Tables need upgrading-kinda cafeteria like. No more salad bar and no more grumpy old owner. Give them a try. Get a 25% discount by using the yelp offer.

Friendly owners. Came in right around closing. Confusion about groupon. Comped two slices of pizza. I recommend the bbq. Will definitely be back soon.

My family and I came in to Pizza Roma for dinner last night and it was delicious! We ordered the Buffalo wings, a pepperoni pizza and meaty combination pizza. Everything was very tasty. We also order some Shock Top Beer on tap which hit the spot especially while watching the GSW beat the Celtics! This is the perfect low key spot to watch sports, eat some tasty wings / pizza and enjoy some good brew. We will be back.

I love down the street from this mom n pop pizza shop. It's a bit gloomy and it's always empty when I hit the place up, which can be a bit concerning but overall the pizza is great, ask for it extra cheesy and you're all set. The wings are also a must.

Awsome pizza! It was very tasty, and worth the wait!!! We waited a while bc we had a big group and they were not prepared for such a size, however the pizza was delicious, and worth the wait! The service was also a little slow but they were very kind and apologetic. You also get 25% off if you check in on yelp!!!

I mean, no, it does not look like the Plaza Hotel. It's a pizza place, and it looks like a pizza place. were you expecting a unicorn rose garden full of rainbows and white tablecloths studded with diamonds? The pizza is terrific, they make little individual ones, and most of all the owners are SUPER nice and sweet. So get yourself some pizza!

I was a long time customer of Pizza Roma. I must admit, when I heard about the change in ownership, I was a bit skeptical. When I ordered my first pizza, I was not aware of the new change but the owners were very considerate, caring, patient, and understanding. I called in an order and it was the old menu when I arrived they told me about the new owner change and change in menu. Their customer service was magnificent. They gave me a discount for the confusion the pool table would still have been great to have though but overall great people.

This place used to be an okay place to get pizza and beer, but the new owners have made some big changes. Pizza is fantastic and a lot more menu options and the place looks so much better, also fantastic beer! And great service.

Good house ground sausage and the pizza was well done as requested. The crust isn't my favorite but is good for the style. I prefer a crispier cracker like crust - Chicago thin crust style and this was more NY style. Decent pizza and it was fast.

Decent pizza, nice crispy crust. Always good to help out the mom & pop places. Decor is a bit tired, so I prefer take-out.

It's mediocre but well-cooked pizza; a big improvement would be more herbs in the currently-flavorless sauce. The salad bar was minimal but did have baby spinach in addition to iceberg lettuce which was nice. I found the spaghetti similarly merely adequate. The all you can eat on Tuesdays (5-8pm) is an economical deal at $9 but not impressive. Rather than a table of self-service pizza, staff come around periodically with 2 varieties. The atmosphere is a bit outdated but clean. Staff were friendly and responsive. There's a small back room with 2 pinball machines and 2 video games, and they have a bigscreen TV and a surprisingly nice coin-op pool table in the dining room. My overall impression is that this is a solid place for high school students to hang out (except for the sign saying no more than 4 students allowed at a time); it's also probably also a fair option for coaches looking for a post-game team pizza-feed.

Combination pizza is the best! Whenever we decide to have pizza at home, we take a family vote and it's always Pizza Roma. Our daughter is vegetarian so it's great that we can order one veggie while the rest of us go for the combo.

Love this place. Usually not very crowded. Feels like going to a friend's house, but more like one in small town or rural America. Feels kind of old timey. Also a good place to watch sports.

I am new to the area and wanted a quick bite to eat and found Pizza Roma. They have absolutely great pizza. Perfectly cooked, not too hard and crunchy but not too soft. This will definitely be my regular pizza spot.

I really don't understand any of the bad reviews... I've literally been going here since middle school, the owners are extremely friendly and the pizza is great. It is truly the definition of a Mom&Pop joint, whether you're looking for a slice to go or would like to dine in its a great place to stop. We always play a game of pool while we wait for our pizza, the woman, I wish I could remember her name, is older &very sweet, but she will push up on the middle school kids for fooling around in the restaurant, which I have a feeling is where some on the negative reviews came from, but seeing as they deal with a bunch of young 2013 kids on a daily basis I totally understand..... but like I said this place has great pizza, I like half Hawaiian, half pepperoni and sausage, extra cheese on the whole thing.... mmmmmm

I was starved after the gym, but needed to go to the market. Therefore, I needed to eat before mustering the energy to food shop. The location is ideal since it's in a plaza with an auto shop, market, drug store, tax services, and some others. The son of the mom&pop shop greeted me. I asked if they served pizza by the slices and he said no, but I can buy the smallest pizza of 2 pieces. Finally, I just went with the simplest/cheapest item of 2 slices of cheese pizza for $4. Since I have never been here before, I walked around looking for the restroom. Men and women are located on opposite ends. Finally, I found the women's restroom, but it was locked. I made my way to the front counter and the son already had the bathroom key ready. Now, that's service! The pizza satisfied my hunger. The 2 slices actually ended up being a mini-personal pizza. It was good for the price paid, not to mention piping hot from the oven. Bottom line is that service is great (and I thought the son was cute.) The family is definitely hard-working. They probably have loyalty from locals, many phone-in orders or pick-ups. The decor on the inside may need an update, but the place is clean and orderly. I don't think I'd go out of my way to come, but if I'm hungry and in that plaza for groceries, I'd stop by again.

I've thrown many team parties here, only because it's the only pizza place in the neighborhood that can hold that many people. But every time we've gone, I leave annoyed. The place is dirty, they have lawn chairs as extra seating, and they put us on the pool table to eat,...no joke. They actually put some boards on it or something, and then cover it with a nasty looking velvet type tablecloth that doesn't look like it's been washed, and seat us there. I asked specifically not to sit there once and they again put us there for another party I had. They are so stingy with their plates too. First of all, they're so cheap and flimsy that you need two. And even though we ordered 6 pizzas, we had to ask them 3 times for more plates because each time they only gave us 5-6. It was as if they wanted to give us as little as possible. And then when they saw that we had a cake, they charged us $10 for paper plates and spoons. Seriously??? I really can't understand why they don't treat groups/soccer/baseball teams better, but instead act like we're draining their money by being there. Don't they realize that in every group, there are at least 2-3 families that have never been there before, and that they could potentially come back again or maybe even throw their own parties there next time? If you are looking for a great place to throw a team party, check out Mountain Mike's in El Sobrante. It's not that much farther,...just 7 minutes on the freeway. They don't charge ridiculous fees for plates, they have a private room, their pizzas are HUGE and much cheaper, and they aren't stingy to their paying customers. For smaller groups, Albany Pizza is great, and if you don't mind paying more, there's always Round Table. At least those places understand customer service.

After reading some of these nasty reviews, I had to chime in. Considering it's a small local mom and pop operation, this place is great. Friendly husband and wife (i think). Awesome crust and sauce. Classic old school type pizza. And I appreciate the fact that they'll "customize" the pizza for you. I like to go light on cheese and heavy on sauce and they always accomomdate.

My wife and I got a little tired on each time we order pizza from Lane Splitters how the toppings become less and less. So we tried Pizza Roma. YUM!!!! Pizza Roma is our new place to pizza delivery. The pizza style is the Old Skool pizza I remembered as a kid. Better yet the pizza has a generous amount of toppings. A large pizza was under $20!!! The pizza was delivered in less then 30 minutes!!! Not now over an hour for some places. If you are tired of those "I got to eat here and say i love it because all the Hipsters say it is good pizza" then Pizza Roma is the place to go. If you want horrible over priced pizza with lots of Hipsters who knows nothing.... It your $$$. We only done delivery and have NOT actually been to the restaurant itself. BTW... The website is cheesy. Don't let the pic of the Cheese Pizza fool you. The pizza here is delicious!!!

I ordered a pepperoni pizza to go, so I'm not really rating the facility. The pizza was still hot when I got home and looked pretty decent. The pepperoni had flavor, but the rest of the pizza (crust, sauce, cheese) was bland and a bit greasy. I like to support local restaurants, but they need to at least meet the taste quality of the chains before I can go there again.

Gross. We were in the area and wanted to grab pizza. We should have turned away at first sight. The place inside is gross. Super dusty, random decor, tacky ceiling fixtures.. Now on to the food... the side salad... welting lettuce, less than fresh cucumbers, just bland. The pizza, nothing special, lacking sauce. The sausage tasted more like hamburger which I am sure is cheaper to buy. When the pizza is ready the least they can do is bring it to your table, not holler at you from behind the counter for you to come pick it up. Literally from across the restaurant. And to top it off... dine in, we were giving paper plates. Really? There's got to be better pizza around than this, go elsewhere.

Pizza Roma is the best pizza in town! This is a family owned business. The pizza is excellent, and the service is outstanding! I strongly recommend this place to everyone.

This is our default delivery place. Of all the folks who deliver to us (Extreme Pizza does not), they have the tastiest pizza. The crust is crispy on the bottom and relatively thin (though not actually thin crust). Their topping selection is good and their ingredients always seem fresh. They are always very prompt on delivery. And their garlic cheese bread is super yummy. They have a physical location where you can dine in (all you can eat pizza, pasta, and salad on Tuesday evenings), but as of yet, we've only had the delivery. The pasta options are not on the delivery menu and we've never ordered their salad as they are just regular tossed salads with nothing special. UPDATE: Ordered a sald. Yes, nothing special. But the ingredients were very fresh and tasty (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, with a slice of honeydew). Excellent price, excellent pizza. Nothing gourmet about it, but we're not always looking for gourmet. If you want gourmet, I suggest Cheeseboard or Lococo (Berkeley) or, if they deliver to you or you are visiting their stores, Extreme Pizza.

We went to Pizza Roma at 11:30 on a Sunday with our soccer team for the end-of-the-season party. We ordered four of the largest pizzas, and asked for a pitcher of water. The woman (owner?) said she wouldn't serve us water because we didn't spend enough money for the amount of people we had in our party. I pointed out that it was 11:30 in the morning and we were the only people in the place. She was adamant that we had not spent enough money, and that she would sell us bottled water, but would not serve us tap water. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

Solid Pizza. Tuesday they have All-You-Can-Eat for a good price, and includes salad and pasta. The guy who works there is cool. We were the first ones there and the pizza was kind of old from earlier that day, and I hesitated in taking a piece, and he said in a funny manner "just tell me you dont freakin want it-" So I did, and he said "Cool! I'll whip up some new pizza. What do you want on it?" And he made it. Good beers on tap, too. This is like one of your old-school, childhood pizza places

Pizza Roma is the kind of place you want to succeed. It's a family owned pizza place that I think really tries to give good value. First, the pizza is above average. Toppings are generous and the crust is good. This is not gourmet pizza but it is quite good. They have about a dozen or so pizza combos which are pretty standard fare. What I really like is that they have a mini pizza which is still enough pizza for my 4 and 6 year old together. This makes it easy to order the mini for the boys and a medium for the adults. That's a BIG plus for families on a tight budget. Pizza Roma also has other food, e.g. burgers, bbq wings, sandwhiches, etc., but I haven't tried those. If food were the only reviiew item Pizza Roma would get 4 stars. Now to the not so great part. Pizza Roma is stuck in 1985. The decor looks like it hasn't been updated in 20 years and even then it was terrible. If you look around it appears that they've just given up on making the dining experience pleasant. My guess is they rely more on take out/delivery than walk-in dining. Regardless, they really need to give the interior a face lift. My suggestion would be for them to embrace the family dining concept and make the place a fun place for folks with young kids. That's a huge market that doesn't require a lot of high end touches. In summary, I like the food, I don't like the interior. Go there once to meet the staff (very nice) and then order delivery.

The Dutch auction method: start with 5 stars and work down. Minus one star for the cheese pizza, minus one for the Pizza Roma combo, minus one for the pepperoni. That leaves two stars. My opinion is that the pepperoni is the clear choice among the three. Maybe I'm being too hard-nosed. It's better than Blondie's! Fine sports bar ambiance from another decade (not sure which one, however). They have a huge TV, and there must be a nice crowd when there are big games. Sierra Nevada on draft!

This is a perfectly decent pizza. The dough is fine, the sauce is fine, the toppings are fine. It's not exceptional, but it does the job. They serve beer, and they have plenty of tables if you want to grab a pie and eat it there.

This is the second time I've called in the last few months when they haven't had a driver for delivery, which is basically the only reason we ever get their pizza. The pizza is mediocre. Might as well get it from a large chain that delivers, in my opinion.

  • Odie d.

The pizza is great!!! especially the mini Roma, I always call in ahead of time so its ready when I get there, still hot and exceptionally great!!! I am an east coaster, I don't care, the place can look like a hole in the wall, but if the food is good, there is no need for anyone to complain. Count your blessings people.

Pizza Roma is a neighborhood hang-out. Definitely for locals and families. Not a destination place if you are out-of-towners but I believe in supporting them for several reasons. They are independently owned and operated by a local couple who are like-able and hard working. They support the community by often having fund raisers for school and community groups. My son's schools have benefited a great deal from their generosity. It is low-key and a fun place to have birthday parties for your kids. They have a couple of video games and the ambiance will remind you of those pizza parlors from your childhood. The pizza isn't the best in town but it is relatively inexpensive for most take out pizza (other than Costco or Little Caesars). And since the owners are the cooks you know that some "love" is in every pizza.

Order from here probably 1x/week. Big fan of the black olive pizza which my kids love and the adults get a spinach, mushroom, garlic pizza. We've had many quests over who also like the pizza. Definitely order take-out, they deliver for free and the restaurant itself desperately needs a face lift. Even my 5 year old doesn't want to set foot in there. It would be nice if they had coupons or some discounts.

I have ordered the small veggie pizza (to go) and it is enough for two or three people and it cost only about 12 bucks. The toping is generous and varied and the crust is good. It takes about 10 or 12 minutes to wait for it to bake but it's always worth the wait. The place looks bit old fashioned and shabby from wear but clean.

  • James C.

Subpar pizza at best. The three long brown hairs in my pizza was a nice touch though. The only good thing about this pizza is it was delivered fast. Needless to say I won't ordering from them again.

Good pizza, fresh ingredients and the folks that own & run the place are super nice to everyone. You can shoot a game of poll or play pinballs while you wait for a nice fresh pizza. All very reasonable prices. Small bar for beer, wine. TV with sports usually going but not so loud it disturbs anyone. I hope they can stay in business since the Safeway moved out of the little strip mall last year.

So far sooooooo good! I really like their pizza. Why? Crispy crust on the bottom, yet pillowy on the inside, the edge crust is not huge or super chewy but just right! The sauce is flavorful but not to acidic and there is just the right amount. I had the Roma and a pepperoni both are good! Both orders were to go but I went in to pick it up and the ambiance is...circa 3's Company which is cool because that's one of my favorite shows of all time. Tuesday is all you can eat from 5-8pm for 8.99 but I am not sure what that entails exactly? Now I will sing you a song... "Come and knock on our door..... We've been waiting for you...... Where the kisses are hers and hers and his, Three's company too. Come and dance on on our floor...... Take a step that is new..... We've a loveable space that needs your face, Three's company too. You'll see that life is a frolic and laughter is calling for you...... Down at our rendez-vous, Three's company, too!!!!!!" Is 3's Co. on Netflix?

I've looked around and this is the best pizza I can find that delivers in El Cerrito. They take cards, they're open during their posted business hours, their pizza is pretty good and so are the prices. Recommended for those in the area.

Got take-out tonight. OK in a pinch for locals. Takin' care of business. Get the job done kind of pizza. I will recommend. it's no Zachary's or Pizza My Heart, but that is some pretty stiff competition. I'll give it a good not great review. Friendly customer service.

They make REAL pizza with REAL meats and vegetable. How do I know? They buy their ingredients at my Safeway, and we go to them to eat.

  • Jimmy J.

What can you say it was pizza. The sauce was basically tomato paste with some herbs. The cheese was your basic flavorless mozzarella the best part of it was the crust it wasn't too thick and it had a nice crunch to it. I give it three stars for the 10 minute wait for them to make it if I would have missed any of the world cup on my lunch break they may have only received one.

I don't know what's with the low ratings here. Sure, this place isn't fancy and the decor might be worn, but it's not trying to be a fancy pizza restaurant. it's just the neighborhood mom and pop place and they make a great pizza for a good price.

I've been going to Pizza Roma for years. It's excellent pizza, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and homey and it's a great place to take your family - and the take out is fast.! It's a wonderful independent family restaurant. A+

This place is alright--neither the crust nor the sauce taste fabulous though they are generous with their toppings which is kind. But the extra toppings give the pizza too much moisture that inevitably sinks into the crust. Roma's delivery hours are quite limited, too. The best thing about this pizzeria is that before we had a washer/dryer, I'd go to the laundromat in the same strip mall, start the laundry, go pick up a small pizza, and eat it while watching TV at the laundromat, waiting for the wash. It made me feel like the queen of slackerdom. UPDATE 2/11/09: Hello, it's ALL YOU CAN EAT pizza night on Tuesdays after 5pm. I will check it out when I get sick of $1 tacos at Rubio's. Will Tuesday be the new Friday night, what with $1 tacos or all you can eat pizzas, and a date with Detective Bobby Goren of the Major Case Squad? Pinch me, cuz life can't be this good.

This place is cool when you want to grab some pizza. The minis are more than enough for one person. I personally like the italian garden, but they have a lot of other choices sure to make everyone happy. The owners are really nice and friendly. It's always nice to support local businesses and get some good pizza and beer.

The crust could not be better. I've tried many pizza places in this area (El Cerrito, Berkeley, Albany), and none have had a better crust than at Roma. I think the quality of crust is often an underappreciated element of pizza. Also, the toppings here are fresh. The sausage and eggplant are excellent. I think the ranch sauce is homemade, because I had some with the chicken wings, and I loved the ranch. 'Til now I've only ordered takeout, but the ambiance in the restaurant has given me reason to visit soon since it's very reminiscent of pizza parlours I have visited long ago.

The pizza was not good. I can name at least a dozen pizza places in the Berkeley/El Cerrito area that are better, including: Bobby G's, Blondie's, and others. The restaurant was dark and dingy inside. The pizzas were brought out to us on trays, but no plates nor utensils were offered. The pizzas were literally flavorless, lots of toppings, but very bland. Half of the crust was soggy underneath, half was burnt to a crisp and hard to chew. Not much more to say.

Pizza Roma makes a great traditional pizza. It's definitely a cut above all chain pizzarias. The atmosphere is a little worn, it actually feels like you are stepping back into the 60's or 70's, but don't let that put you off... Or order pizza to go, and take it with you. It's also a local Mom / Pop business which makes handing over your dough for their dough a little bit more meaningful, as well. Enjoy!

Surprisingly good pizza, and inexpensive. I find the ambiance more depressing than retro-fun, even with the cool red plastic glasses, so I always get it to go, and we're never disappointed. Try it!
